my prof sometimes asks us to email him small assignments. He says that it is possible to know when the last word was typed - we can send them after 4 pm on the due date but he said he will know if we cheated and typed after that. I sent him my assignment at 5 pm. I wasnt thinking and made a correction on the date (I always state the date etc on the front page of the assingment) - will my prof think I cheated when I didnt? cant I just copy and paste the whole thing into another document? Would he know exactly what word I typed last?

Hi

Thank you fo joinging our forum,

When you last edit a document the last thing you do will be recorded even if you copy and past, he can see 2 things the last edit time and date and the last word typed by opening the document and pressing shift + f5.

To get around this there are 2 ways a more complicated way exists of opening the document in a raw format and physically editing the last edit time. (This is quite complicated)

But for you i think this little tip bellow is sneaky and easy.

-Simply change the date and time on your computer to an early time (E.g To before the time when the document needed to be complete)

-Open the document and make an edit (Just retype a word)

-Then save the document

-Set the time back to the correct time.

TIP: you can see the last edit date an time at the bottom of the folder its in when selecting the document.

Now if you look at the document the last edit date will be when the time was changed. Please post back here to let us know how it goes.

For more sneaky tips like this please feel free to ask us any IT questions.

good luck
